Today's Date-- September 17, 2006 The first group of American Buddhist Forest Nuns are proud to launch their website!A first for Women in the US concerning Buddhism!Launching a new site is always fun. This one is fun for a particular reason. Its the first time that American Women have laid claim to a Buddhist Tradition of their own in the United States! With the support of several Foreign traditions, this group is forging ahead to be leaders in beginning a new Buddhist Forest Tradition for Women in the United States and offering a genuine ordination program for women to come and live in the forest, build a kuti ( meditation hut ), and examine what the Buddha actually did! This IS a move to find original Buddhism for Women. We hope you will visit our website and keep tabs on the first Purple Nun who will be moving around the globe somewhat through this winter. It would be real nice if you could come by the center in the Spring or early summer of 2007 and join in building the first Dhamma hall on this 30 acres of land. This will house the library for the program and offer shelter to more women in the coming summer rains retreat. If you are healthy and strong, love the rural outdoors and really want to
learn about how Buddhism was in the beginning, then join us as we study Buddhism in
the forest in this new adventure. Our guiding Teacher in Ven. U
Vimalaramsi Maha Thera from the Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center. For More Information Contact: |
