Brahma Vihara Meditation Center
Ven. Dr. Saccānanda Mahāthera is the founder and abbot of Brahma Vihāra Meditation Center in Westbury, Long Island, New York. Dr. Saccānanda established this Center on October 12, 2017. His aim is to teach others so that all human beings can liberate from the wheel of cycle. He teaches Tranquil - Insight (Samatha-Vipassanā) Meditation which uses the "Mindfulness of Lovingkindness" practice (otherwise known as the practice of the Brahma Vihāra) for the journey to Nibbāna.
He considers he is following the tenets of the earliest Buddhist sect, (Sutta Pitaka (Basket of Discourses). Happiness arises as the burden of the ego melts away. Dr. Saccānanda talks about the benefits of using Mettā here. Mettā is much faster and easier for the path to awakening. Mettā is not just a "feel-good" practice; it is the direct path to the unconditioned (SN 46.54(4)). This is REAL awakening through the Jhānas.
At BVMC, Dr. Saccānanda offers 10-day retreats focused on Loving-kindness meditation, which is considered a direct path to awakening. The center also hosts various ceremonies and regular Friday night sessions. Dr. Saccānanda's teachings emphasize the importance of happiness and the melting away of the ego, aligning closely with the principles taught by Bhante Vimalaramsi (Brahma Vihāra Meditation Center) (Brahma Vihāra Meditation Center).

Brahma Vihāra Retreat Registration
Brahma Vihāra offers 10-day retreats in the meditation practice of Tranquil-Insight Meditation - Metta-Loving Kindness, based on the earliest Buddhist Suttas. The goal is full awakening here and now, as described in the earliest ancient texts.
